A Luxury Staycation – The Cellars-Hohenort

To say we were on cloud 9 during our stay at Cellars-Hohenort is an understatement. Situated right in the lush Constantia Valley, and just 15 minutes from the Cape Town city centre,  Cellars-Hohenort is the ideal place to escape to for a tranquil holiday. What’s more, the food, decor and design are just breathtaking!

Beautifully tucked away on nine acres of rich, green land, Cellars-Hohenort boasts a mesmerising history and wonderful design. Comprising of 51 elegantly styled suites and 2 private villas, Cellars-Hohenort is a treat for the soul. While just being surrounded by the majesty of the space was a treat on its own, the real treat was getting to taste Executive Chef, Tronette Dippenaar’s fuss-free yet incredibly delicious menu. I appreciated that it is not only halaal friendly but that Tronette and her team go out of their way to ensure every guess dietary requirement is met. We stayed at Cellars-Hohenort just after my husband got diagnosed with diabetes and we were both relieved to find that for the first time in a long time, we never had to worry about the food we were eating and whether or not it was lifestyle friendly.

The suite

We arrived after work one evening and took a dip in one of the 2 huge pools on the estate before changing and heading off to dinner. Our suite was impressive, spacious and comfortable with a comforting dining area connected to a huge main bedroom. Decorated in subdued, pale colours, each suite at Cellars is designed with comfort in midland. The kitchen area is stocked with some snacks, drinks, teas and coffees while the bathrooms are spacious, modern and contain all the essentials you could need during your stay.

My favourite part of the property, however, was the breathtaking conservatory (pictured below) where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch or tea. The glass-walled room allows one to feel a sense of calm while the natural surrounding environment and view of the lawns and outdoor seating area brings it all together in one simple, yet elegant setting.

I also visited the hotel after my stay to enjoy their high tea and what a treat it was! I chose the gluten-free, halaal tea (you can specify dietary requirements before booking) and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of food available. Along with your tea comes a selection of teas and coffees to help you spend a perfect afternoon in peace.

With a small, yet stylish spa, a hairdresser and gym on the property, Cellars-Hohenort is the ideal space to escape to for both a work retreat or couples time away. I can’t wait to go back for their garden tea which I hear is amazing!
