Before I start this post about my amazing treatments at Skin Renewal, I need to apologize for not uploading in a while. First it was the fast and then I was writing exams and, between being sick with a cold and flu to graduating (subtle bragging), I simply never had a chance to sit down and type \u2013 let alone respond to mails. However, it has been more than a week since my last appointment at Skin Renewal and I definitely need to share my over-all experience as well as some tips for some of you who might be interested to pay the clinic a visit.<\/p>\n

If you have been following my journey with Skin Renewal, then you would already know by now that the one thing that stood out to me throughout this entire experience was the entire Skin Renewal staff who each goes out of their way to make their patients feel comfortable and understood. The interior of the clinic is also really great and has an airy, spa-like feel which aids in calming any nerves you may have before commencing with treatments.<\/p>\n

All in all, I had 2 appointments with the beautiful Dr Toni (I honestly feel like she could easily pack up her degree and go out to be an international model). The first time, which I wrote about here <\/a>was my initial consultation where we discussed what my concerns were (breakouts and pigmentation) and how they would help me better my skin and aid in the recovery process. About two weeks later I was back at the clinic and starting on my treatments which honestly, went by way too fast!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to repeat much of what I wrote about before and, if you want to read a more in-depth explanation of the treatments I had, namely the Azelan Peel, the Radiance Peel and my favorite, the Dermapen, then read it all over here.<\/a><\/p>\n

I had about 9 treatments with every second one being a Dermapen and, in the middle of it all, went to see Dr Toni again as I was still breaking out quite a bit which was leaving scarring of its own and delaying the process of healing and getting clear skin. She then advised that I use the Skin Renewal brightening creams in the morning and night as well as start taking a probiotic (because I have fibromyalgia, gut problems have always been a huge issue for me) and a course of Lamelle\u2019s Acnevelle capsules. There were many interesting things that I discovered while being treated such as that when it\u2019s that time of the month, you are likely to get a breakout on the side of your face that is directly related to which ovary releases an egg, who knew? I was also told my lovely therapists, Maricia and Lucinda, that issues in the gut gets portrayed on the skin (such as inflammation) \u2013 which also made me more keen to take the probiotic.<\/p>\n

The creams that I mentioned above are Skin Renewals own brand which are made up of a day cream and night cream and are formulated with nicotinamide, kojic acid, glycolic and lactic acid as well as peptides which is basically an anti-inflammatory product that helps with acne prone skin. \u00a0The night cream however differs from the day cream as it contains Vitamin A which is also super great for acne and, according to Dr Toni, it is extremely beneficial for the skin. In the beginning however I had to slowly introduce the creams to my skin as they contain really powerful ingredients which took me about 2 weeks to use them both every day and night. So far, in conjunction with my treatments, I have been using them for just over a month and have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin tone and texture as well as a decrease in breakouts. I definitely also feel that there are certain foods that make me break out more than usual (such as too much sugar and caffeine) and have been trying to cut them out while increasing my water intake – which has been a real mission since the fast ended.<\/p>\n

While many of my scarring has definitely faded due to the peels and Dermapen, I still have a bit more on the cheeks as it is the place I tend to break out 97% of the time. I also much prefer to cover up my pigmentation with makeup but found that I now use much less than before, plus, I also hardly wear concealer, which is great.<\/p>\n
