While things are slowly going crazy in my academic life and the feeling that I should be studying at every single second of my day becomes more powerful, I recently discovered that the easiest way for me to take a step back and regain focus is by wearing simple, yet well tailored clothes. It’s true that the perfect outfit will make you feel like you have your life together and for me, taking that extra bit of effort when I have no other plans than immersing myself in work, makes the world of difference. The one outfit choice I have been gravitating towards the most is this simple, button-down dress from Mr Price which I picked up a few weeks ago on a whim. I shot this look quite some time ago as I knew that studying will probably take over every minute of my life- which is has and now, while the blog posts are piling up on my desktop and the beauty products up for review are strewn across my room, I figured that now would be a better time as any to take a step back and share this look with you.
Minimal
High Life
The moment I put this look together I knew that it was a winner. I have always lusted after a boyfriend jeans but never tried them on for fear that I’d look nothing less than ridiculous, but when I laid eyes on this pair from Forever New, I suddenly had this itch to dress it up and try them on. Plus, the fact that they were rolled up at the bottom and perfectly ripped just added to their allure. This beautiful fur coat paired with the jeans made such a statement on its own that I decided to mute everything down with a plain body suit and nude boots. The hat and neck-pieces were a complete novelty and I felt like it added a bit of sophistication and fun to the outfit.
There will always be black
My favorite color to wear for no other reason besides the fact that I feel comfortable in it. I wear this hue every single day and for me to do a Forever New shoot without incorporating black, would have defintley been something very unlike me. The first thing I grabbed when I went in store was this beautifully made leopard coat and black leather skinnies. I knew that I wanted to wear a hat with this look to add some edge and took this one off the front display (I was on a serious mission). My favorite part of this ensemble however is the shirt which is just so soft and fantastically designed. The front crosses over and sits just above my hip bones while the back cascades down a bit and looks like one of those longer length tops. Plus, it was so much fun to shoot! win win
Fashion with Forever New
Myself and Forever New (one of my most favorite shops in the entire world) came together to put an Eid inspired look (forgive the redundancy) together as part of this little Ramadhaan and Eid series on my blog. Obviously, I knew that I would no doubt be able to create amazing outfit with wardrobe staples from the store that we all need in our lives, such as a bright coat, a fitted and seamless pants and a soft blouse. I topped the ensemble off with a scarf because I wanted at least one of the looks I done, to seem more realistic for the women who cover up and wear the hijab. If you not into the whole Hijab look as yet, then I tried my hand at making a (very wonky) turban as well, just so that you can see how to play around with it. The scarf is also nice and big so you could even wrap it around you like a shawl.
