SKOON Skincare and how you can win with them

Say hello to my latest obsession, SKOON Skincare, an excellent beauty brand born and bred in South Africa. This bespoke brand is an all-natural skin care range that finds inspiration from a time when products were delicately made by hand with love and the highest level of care. All products are full in the aromas of nature’s abundance – think pure plant oils, rich butters, delicate floral essences and botanical extracts which all come together to create a beautifully pioneered skin care system.

I tried out a few of their products after I filled out a form with my skin care concerns. SKOON then sent me an adorable package filled with 6 miniature products that would best suit my skin type as per their professional opinion.

They sent me the trial pack called REMEDI due to my problematic skin and to be completely honest, I fell in love with each product the first time I used them! In the pack you get 5 products that all work together to smooth away breakouts and smooth over active skin

The first product in the pack is the Purifying Cleanser with Whitewash which is a gentle white clay with Quillaja, Zinc, Vitamin E, Manuka and Rose Geranium Oil that keeps blemishes at bay by ‘scooping’ debris from pores without stripping vital oils. It has a soft, gentle and creamy texture with a fresh, floral scent that gives your skin a ‘clean’ feel. I really loved using this product as just as a little goes a very long way. I removed it with a warm flannel which I got along with the products and together it just leaves my skin feeling fresh and dewy.

Next up is the Regulating Toner with Elderflower which is an impressive 96% natural. It is a stringent blend of pure, first distillates of Elderberry, Neroli and Lavender which is then infused with Zinc and Vitamin B3.  It is also anti-septic, calming and provides a great refreshing mist over tired and irritable skin. Elderflower also helps to rebalance the skin’s pH and contains sebum regulating actives which controls breakouts gently but effectively.

The Mineral Matte Balancing Fluid is an absolute treat to use on annoyed skin such as mine. It is a lovely, light, balancing fluid with a non-greasy, skin feel and effective blotting effect which contains a French active derived from Avocado Pears, that controls oiliness – and very effectively too – with studies showing a 78% decrease in excess shine. What I absolutely loved about it was that it hydrated my skin without leaving it feeling oily and tacky, unlike many moisturisers I have tried. It also serves as a great base for the next two oil based products I will be talking about.

One of the items you get in the REMEDI pack is a lovely, light yet dry oil called White Cloud Manuka Concentrate that not only adds some extra nourishment into the base moisturiser, but also helps to slow down the promotion of breakouts. Interestingly enough, it is not actually an oil but an emulsion which helps to assist in normalising the function of sebaceous ducts without leaving a greasy after feel – or causing breakouts. Another interesting fact about this is that it is highly compatible with skin lipids as this lightweight emollient acts as a mild liquid vehicle to deliver topical Linoleic Acid (Vitamin F) to overactive skin. The reason that this is so good is because studies have shown that there is usually a deficiency of Linoleic Acid in the sebum of acne sufferers and results showed a 25% improvement in comedone (clogged ducts) size due to topical application of Linoleic Acid over a one month period.

The one item that was not part of the REMEDI kit but was sent to me due to my interest in it is probably one of my favorites. Cleverly coined as Glow Drops, it is a concentrated skin blend of flower essences and Phytosqualan® which provides daily care for extra nourishment, maintenance of skin pliancy and a gives you a soft, luminous glow. It is scented with Damask Rose essential oil and is 100% preservative and free. The oil contains Squalane, Jojoba Seed Oil, Rose Geranium Oil, Damask Rose Flower Oil and
Citronellol which all works together to give you gorgeous and dewy skin –plus, it can also be added to your foundation for an extra skin care kick!

Finally, the last thing I received in the pack is my new favorite skin care staple, the Spot Stick is just all levels of amazing. I always get the most random of breakouts so having something close by that zap them for a while is a must. Infused with Jojoba, Niaouli, Lavender and East Indian Geranium, it immediately reduces inflammation and stops breakouts from erupting. For me it was one of those products that you can feel working and really impressed me, especially since its 100% natural.
