While spring is certainly my least favorite time of the year (hello, constant hay-fever), I will admit that there are perks that come along with the season such as the fresh smell in the air, milky and glowing mornings and beautiful blooms pushing out of every crack and crevice. For some reason, this is the only season when I try and soften up my day to day look which is usually made up of a uniform of black and grey. This year, I eased into my annual spring style with a nude sling bag from Call It Spring, these utterly gorgeous heels from Viva Footwear and combined them with my favorite t-shirt and an embroidered skinny, you know, to really keep in with the theme of spring.
While things are slowly going crazy in my academic life and the feeling that I should be studying at every single second of my day becomes more powerful, I recently discovered that the easiest way for me to take a step back and regain focus is by wearing simple, yet well tailored clothes. It’s true that the perfect outfit will make you feel like you have your life together and for me, taking that extra bit of effort when I have no other plans than immersing myself in work, makes the world of difference. The one outfit choice I have been gravitating towards the most is this simple, button-down dress from Mr Price which I picked up a few weeks ago on a whim. I shot this look quite some time ago as I knew that studying will probably take over every minute of my life- which is has and now, while the blog posts are piling up on my desktop and the beauty products up for review are strewn across my room, I figured that now would be a better time as any to take a step back and share this look with you.
Two of the most notable trends for this season are velvet and pleats. Both amazing in their own right but, when paired together, make a strikingly chic and elegant ensemble which hints at hours of planning and attention to detail. Both of these delicate fabrics have been around for ages and now, with their comeback into the fashion world, they are, for the first time, being worn together in the most stylish way.
When choosing what to wear for the day, the ‘less is more’ mantra plays over and over in my head. I am not one for piling on the jewellery or wearing out there hues but on the rare occasion where a beautifully created garment catches my eye, I know that I simply have no choice but to grab it and share it’s magic with all of you.
This Piccione Piccione skirt is every kind of beautiful with its wide pleats, intricate artwork and excellent craftsmanship which I paired with my Dune London bag and leather strap Dune London heels.
