Healing my body with Bio-puncture and IV at Skin Renewal

*Grab a cup of tea and get comfortable, this is going to be a long one.

While for some time, my Fibromyalgia pain and symptoms have been somewhat under control, about 2 months ago, I started feeling worse than ever. It eventually got so bad that my pain level reminded me of what it felt like when I just got diagnosed 9 years ago. An increase in insomnia, stress, pain and inflammation were the most prominent and, under all of that, lurked the smaller symptoms like headaches, dizziness, fatigue and difficulty walking. I knew it was time to visit Dr. Graham for a follow up and, since that day, have felt like a shiny, brand new person.

As I suspected, my diet was, once again a contributing factor to what was going on – along with an extremely low Vitamin D and C level. Dr. Graham explained that the increase in inflammation which I was experiencing, could have been related to these vitamin levels and not only put me on a new treatment plan, but recommended a couple of tablets that would help. I was also feeling really ill before seeing him and getting the flu or some sort of infection at least once a month which he chalked up to my vitamin D level since it was less than half of what it’s supposed to be. He noted that the vitamin is one’s body’s natural defense while being anti-viral and reduces inflammation. Interestingly, Dr. Graham said that having your vitamin D level at 60 is as protective as a flu shot! What’s more, having a good level of it helps with anxiety which is something I have been experiencing as well.

He recommended that I go back on the elimination diet which I didn’t quite mind as I knew that it helped to alleviate my symptoms. Alongside of it, he also recommended that I start taking the medication pictured above. Dr. Graham put me on Krill Oil, a potent antioxidant which contains Astaxanthin and, as he mentioned, it is what gives flamingos their pink colour. Therefore, using krill oil also helps protect one against the environment. He also mentioned the importance of using this particular brand as it makes use of sustainable fishing and is the least likely to have any plastic contamination. Next up is a medical strength of Vitamin D (5000mg), 2000mg of Vitamin C and Tran-Q, which is an adaptogen (like Maca root). He noted that taking an adaptogen would benefit my body as it helps to calm the system and aids in stress management. Together, this treatment will allow my immunity to pick up and lower the risk of colds and flu which I always seem to get.

Alongside the medication, Dr. Graham put me on a treatment plan of Biopuncture and IV as  means to make sure that all of the systems in my body are working optimally while restoring everything that needs restoring. This approach is both functional and homeopathic and, while I was nervous to start the treatment, I would now, recommend it to anyone experiencing pain. I decided to have these treatments done at Claremont’s Skin Renewal (where I go for my skin treatments) and have since been under the care of Serena who is perhaps the loveliest nurse I have ever met.

Serena has been invaluable in this entire experience and has taken away my anxiety about needles and injections in no time at all. Not only does she make me feel comfortable before, during and after each treatment (she has a bean bag ready and covers me in a warm blanket!) but, she talks me through every single treatment, explaining exactly what I am getting and how they are working in my body. So far, I have had 5 sessions and, while they are somewhat painful for a mere few seconds, each has left me feeling healthier, lighter and increased my energy levels.

What is biopuncture?

This treatment is fairly new but doctors at Skin Renewal have over two years experience in it and, what made me feel even more comfortable about doing this is that Dr Graham has done it himself and seen excellent results. It is described as an effective injectable therapy to promote the natural regulatory processes in the body. It reduces inflammation, enhances the body’s natural immunity, and promotes healing and better health. These injections are made up of small doses of plants or minerals and are administered intramuscularly in one small injection site. One injection intramuscularly has a systemic effect on the entire body and work wonderfully for a range of different ailments such as:

  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Spasms
  • Sciatica
  • Gut problems
  • Adrenal stress
  • Acne
  • Bacterial and viral infections
  • Body pain (neck, shoulders, knees, back)
  • Diabetes
  • Infertility

The first and second injections were a homeopathic, adrenal biopuncture which was made up of 5 injections in my sternum. This was used to help fight infections, decrease fluid retention, detox the body and stimulate the lymphatic system. The IV that went along with it is called the Pain IV which is a Heal Product that helps to target pain on a general area. It was made up of Traumeel and helped to increase the uptake of vitamins into each cell of my body.

My third session was perhaps the most painful and was encompassed of 5 injections over my liver. This was injected over the area to increase absorption into the liver as a way to help my body detox. While I felt tired and slightly sore for three hours after,, the results have been incredible.

My fourth session was an intramuscular injection as opposed to biopuncture. This is different in the sense that it targets whole system with one injection. I was also given a dose of Phosphodile to recharge and restore the lipid membrane of the cells so that cells function was correct and the transfer of ingredients, more efficient.

The IV which was administered before the biopuncture was made up of a combination of different antioxidants:

  • Vitamin B12 – While this is often not produced properly by the body if the gut is not in optimal health, Vitamin B12 is used to keep the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy. It promotes the formation and regeneration of red blood cells, improves and repairs damaged nerves and helps to maintain the health of our nervous system. It also relieves numbness and pain.
  • Glutathione – this is an extremely effective antioxidant to reduce free radicals and is known as the most important antioxidant for the body. It assists in flushing toxins out of the system and is brilliant for the the immune, gastrointestinal system and nervous system.
  • Zinc – This is an important chemical which is essential for human functioning. Zinc plays a vital role in many aspects of the immune system. It helps in cell division, clotting, and of healing wounds.
  • Glutamine – Wonderful for gut health and gives cell and gut lining the fuel they need to repair themselves (I also take this as a powder form in the morning).
  • ALA – This is great for inflammation, liver function and healing in the body.
  • Magnesium- this is one of the most important minerals and enhances the function of the muscular and nervous system. It is used for for pain, inflammation, gut healing and is calming and relaxing
  • Selenium – antioxidant to help prevent cell damage. It protects red blood cells, reduces inflammation, regulates the thyroid and supports a healthy immune system

If you do find that you suffer with Fibromyalgia or any other pain and no medication seems to be helping, then I would highly recommend trying this form of treatment. It takes about 20 minutes and, while you might need to rest after, the effects are simply wonderful. I haven’t experienced any flare ups or intense pain since starting this therapy and have been sleeping so much better. My headaches are under control and I haven’t had fatigue in over a month – which is quite remarkable. I cannot recommend this treatment enough and after only a few sessions (for me it was 2), will you start noticing incredible results.
